چکیده
•CF may be evaluated with CT at a radiation dose equivalent to chest radiograph.•Low thoracic acquired mean ED of 0.08 ± 0.01mSv.•Compared ASIR, MBIR images demonstrate superior objective image parameters. AIMTo assess the utility volumetric low-dose computed tomography (CT) thorax (LDCTT) protocol posteroanterior (PA) and lateral radiograph for surveillance cystic fibrosis (CF) patients.MATERIALS AND METHODSA prospective study was undertaken 19 adult patients CF that proceeded LDCTT 12 24 months following initiation ivacaftor. A previously validated seven-section, axial used 12-month study. developed 24-month reconstructed hybrid iterative reconstruction (LD-ASIR) pure (model-based IR [LD-MBIR]). Radiation recorded each scan. Image quality assessed quantitatively qualitatively, disease severity using modified Bhalla score. Statistical analysis performed p-values <0.05 were considered statistically significant.RESULTSVolumetric LD-MBIR studies lower than seven-section (0.08 0.01 versus 0.10 0.02 mSv; p=0.02). ASIR had significantly levels noise compared LD-ASIR (p<0.0001). Diagnostic acceptability scores depiction bronchovascular structures found acceptable coronal images. all qualitative parameters No significant change observed in score between 1-year 2-year (p=0.84).CONCLUSIONSThe use (reconstructed IR) enabled acquisition diagnostic images, which extremely useful patients, PA radiograph. To patients. significant. Volumetric (p=0.84). The

Cystic Fibrosis Transmembrane Conductance Regulator (CFTR) Gene
The Cystic Fibrosis Transmembrane Conductance Regulator (CFTR) gene was identified in 1989 by geneticist Lap-Chee Tsui and his research team as the gene associated with cystic fibrosis [4] (CF). Tsui?s research pinpointed the gene, some mutations to which cause CF, and it revealed the underlying disease mechanism. The CFTR gene encodes a protein in cell membranes in epithelial tissues and affec...

متن کاملThe Cystic Fibrosis Transmembrane Conductance Regulator (CFTR)
Cystic fibrosis affects about 1 in 2500 live births and involves loss of transmembrane chloride flux due to a lack of a membrane protein channel termed the cystic fibrosis transmembrane conductance regulator (CFTR). We have studied CFTR structure by electron crystallography. The data were compared with existing structures of other ATP-binding cassette transporters. The protein was crystallized ...
